Planets

There are 23 planets in Homestuck. Each gaming session has different planets, and some planets it shares with all sessions. The planets in every session are Skaia, Prospit, and Derse. On Skaia is The Battlefield, which changes every time a player enters the medium with a prototyped sprite. A war between Prospit and Derse happens there. Prospit is a planet that orbits Skaia like a moon. It is ruled by the White Queen. Prospit's moon passes through the atmosphere of Skaia, allowing Prospitian dream selves to see the future in the clouds. The dream selves of John, Jade, Jane and Jake live here, and in the trolls' session, the dream selves of Karkat, Terezi, Gamzee, Tavros, Vriska, Kanaya, and Sollux (who has two) are also on Prospit. Derse is a planet that orbits beyond The Veil. It is ruled by the Black Queen. The Noble Circle of Horrorterrors, who reside in the Furthest Ring, whisper advice to Dersite dream selves. The dream selves of Rose, Dave, Roxy and Dirk reside here, and in the trolls' session, the dream selves of Equius, Aradia, Nepeta, Eridan, Feferi, and Sollux are also on Derse.

Each of the eight kids have their own planet in the Medium. John Egbert's planet is The Land of Wind and Shade, abbreviated as LOWAS. John's house is located at the top of a large outcropping, rising above the clouds. LOWAS is inhabited by the salamander consorts, and its denizen is Typheus. LOWAS is made of dark blue, pulsating, glowing rocks. The land is split by streams of oil. This oil forms lakes and oceans. There are sharp mountains that are made of brown rocks. The plant life consists of turquoise mushrooms and trees of various sizes. There are no leaves on the trees, and the salamanders farm the local mushrooms for food. Underground is a network of pipes known as the Parcel Pyxis system that are used by the land's inhabitants to transport items. Many pipes can be seen sticking out of the ground.

Rose Lalonde's planet is The Land of Light and Rain, abbreviated as LOLAR. Rose's house is located on a large island. While the mausoleum was destroyed by an explosion, the secret passage beneath it remains. It now leads to a dock, from which Rose's Mom left. On one island, where Mom docks her boat and John later flies to, there are purple-colored ruins, containing at least one powerful enemy and a transportalizer leading to the Ectobiology Lab located in The Veil. As far as can be seen, it is an endless ocean of magenta, cyan, and yellow water, dotted with many yellow rainclouds. There are a few islands, covered in white sand. This planet is home to Rose's pink Turtle consorts and her Denizen, Cetus.

Jade Harley's planet is The Land of Frost and Frogs, abbreviated as LOFAF. The portion of Jade's island that was transported to The Medium is connected to a larger land mass. The planet is constantly snowing, and the trees and earth have all frosted over under snow. The sky is covered with blue and green neon auroras. The consorts living on the planet are blue Iguanas. The denizen of the planet is Echidna

Dave Strider's planet is The Land of Heat and Clockwork, abbreviated as LOHAC. Dave's apartment remained on its highrise, though the floors below his were replaced with a steel framework. The land is characterized by steel framework, spinning cogs, and lots of lava. The Beat Mesa, the device that can activate the Scratch, floats over the oceans of lava. There are also some golden crocodile temples on the planet. The consorts living on the planet are red crocodiles.

The planets of the B2 kids are all dead by the time they get to them. Land of Crypts and Helium for Jane Crocker, an arid land with only artesian water, and crypts of salamanders, and helium balloons dotting the surface. Land of Pyramids and Neon for Roxy Lalonde, A geometric sandstone land covered with glittering pyramids, the tombs for turtles, and neon lightning. Land of Tombs and Krypton for Dirk Strider, A big land of tall stone architecture that serve as tombs for crocodiles, filled with toxic gas. Frequent lightning and storm activity. Finally, there is Land of Mounds and Xenon for Jake English, A dark green land filled with terraced hills, the burial barrows for iguanas, and criss-crossed by a purple X that spans the entire planet.

The trolls each have one planet. Aradia Megido's planet is Land of Quartz and Melody, A land covered with enormous quartz crystals of blue and violet, encrusted with giant brass music boxes. Tavros Nitram's planet is Land of Sand and Zephyr, A breezy desert land of golden skies, windmills and ruins emerging from the sand. Sollux Captor's planet is Land Of Brains and Fire,a burning land of brain-shaped architecture and life forms, inhabited by floating brains. Karkat Vantas' planet is Land of Pulse and Haze, a dark, foggy land of jagged rocks and stone castle ruins in a sea of blood. A dark, foggy land of jagged rocks and stone castle ruins in a sea of blood. Nepeta Leijon's planet is Land of Little Cubes and Tea, a white land of sugar cubes, mountains topped by tea kettles and green rivers of tea. Kanaya Maryam's planet is Land of Rays and Frogs, a land almost completely submerged in water, with beams of light shooting from the depths towards the sky. Terezi Pyrope's planet is Land of Thought and Flow, a land of ancient Greek architecture with green skies and neuron-shaped clouds. Vriska Serket's planet is Land of Maps and Treasure, an oceanic land with tropical islands and historical map figures in the sea and sky. Equius Zahhak's planet is Land of Caves and Silence, a dark blue, arid land with a labyrinthine system of caves and waterfalls underneath. Gamzee Makara's planet is Land of Tents and Mirth, a rainbow world covered with tents, balloons and lamps, with a flashing sky. Eridan Ampora's planet is  Land of Wrath and Angels, a monochrome world of Gothic architecture and inhabited by serpentine angels, with a pure bright white sky. Feferi Peixes' planet is Land of Dew and Glass, a world of grassy meadows, glass water bowls, and a sky of shell-shaped luminescent figures.

Guardians

Guardians are the people and animals that take care of the kids and trolls in Homestuck. Each kid and troll has a specific guardian that watches over them before they go into the game. Most of the kids and trolls share similar characteristics with their guardians.

Most of the post scratch kids have two guardians, one of them being the primary caretaker, and the other one being deceased and not as important before the start of the game, but later essential to continuing through the game. The exception to this is that Dave just has his brother, and prototypes a dead crow, and Jade's dead human guardian is not used in the game by her, as Jade's living guardian prototypes itself into the sprite before Jade's deceased guardian could be prototyped.

 John Egbert has his Nanna, who was dead before he was born, and is pre-scratch Jane. He also has his Dad, who is biologically his half-brother. When John goes into the game, he prototypes his tier one Sprite with a harlequin doll, and after entering the Medium, prototypes his Sprite to tier two with the ashes of his Nanna. 

Rose Lalonde has her Mom, who is pre-scratch Roxy. She also has Jaspers, her dead cat, who died when she was young. Rose prototypes her their one Sprite with an Eldrich Princess doll she made herself, and when entering the Medium, prototyped tier two with the body of Jaspers, making him able to talk.

Dave Strider has his Bro, who is pre-scratch Dirk. Dave didn't prototype Dirk, he prototyped a dead crow with a sword in it for his tier one Sprite. He then prototypes a future version of himself into his Sprite for tier two.

Jade Harley has her Grandpa, who is pre-scratch Jake. Grandpa died early in Jades life. She also has her dog, Becquerel, who has powers that allow him to teleport and alternate reality. Bec prototypes himself into the Sprite for tier one by jumping into it. Jade then prototypes her dead dream self into the Sprite for tier two.

Jane Crocker has her Poppop, who is post-scratch John. She also has her Dad, biologically her grandson. They play no role in helping through the game, along with all the other Guardians of the post-scratch kids.

Roxy Lalonde has her Mom, who is post-scratch Rose.

Dirk Strider has his Bro, who is post-scratch Dave.

Jake English has his Grandma, who is post-scratch Jade, but she died while Jake was young, so he raised himself. There are also Lusii on Jake's island, but they do not take care of him, and Jake just thinks they are there to fight.

The trolls' guardians are called Lusus (singular), or Lusii (plural).Lusii choose the troll they will raise. Scent plays a role in the selection process. They are horrifying beasts found in the ceremonial brooding caverns once the young trolls have completed their many dangerous trials. A troll's lusus is dependent on their blood color, and possibly by gender as well. Together the young troll and custodian surface from the subterranean vaults and build a new hive using carpenter droids.

The ram lusus is a ram-like creature that Aradia had as a guardian. The ram lusii has horns similar to Aradia's. Aradia's Lusus died before the game in a chain of events stemming from a roleplaying accident, as a result it is the only lusus not prototyped into a sprite.

Fairy bulls are small fairy/bull hybrids that Tavros had as lusii. Tavros's fairy bull's name is Tinkerbull. They seem to have a very good relationship, often playing Fiduspawn together, and accompanying him on his Flarp adventures. He appears to have been killed by Tavros, who had accidentally crushed him underneath his wheelchair. Later, Tinkerbull is prototyped into Tavros' kernelsprite, seen floating outside of his transported hive. Tavros has stated that, since Tinkerbull can now talk as a result of his prototyping, he is really smart and appears to consult him for advice.

Bicyclops ,also referred to as a biclops, are large two-headed, horned giants that Sollux had as lusii. Each head has a single eye, one red and one blue, and each head has a mouth with two fangs. Sollux chains his lusus to the roof of his communal hive stem. He is fed mind honey, harvested from Sollux's beehouse mainframes, to "keep him from being an idiot all the time". He was killed by a catastrophic release of Sollux's psionic energy that demolished the upper levels of his hive, as a result of inadvertently consuming mind. Later, Bicyclopsprite is seen staring at Sollux's dead body.

Karkat's lusus is a towering, bipedal crab monster. He is very crabby and Karkat is often forced to fight him to calm him down.He was killed when Karkat's computer exploded as a result of running Sollux Captor's Mobius Double Reacharound Virus, thereby implementing the curse that possibly leads to the death of the other trolls' lusii as well.

Nepeta's lusus, Pounce de Leon, is a feline creature with two mouths, roughly the size of a Panther. Nepeta would ride on Pounce's back until Pounce got tired, at which point Pounce would ride Nepeta.Pounce de Leon was crushed when Nepeta's hive caved in for unknown reasons, probably due to a meteor.

Kanaya's lusus is a Virgin Mother Grub that quit from her responsibility of producing eggs. It is an honor to have one become your lusus. She has a skull-like face, lips, and two horns, one of them bent like Kanaya's. Her design is possibly based on the Virgin Tiger Moth. Kanaya was chosen by her lusus on account of her rare jade green blood, and is protected by her from the various threats of the desert that her hive occupies. Kanaya's hive was built underneath the sand, the seed planted through use of her lusus' remarkable burrowing skills. Kanaya's lusus apparently died of natural causes, as a Mother Grub who renounces brooding has a more limited lifespan. Kanaya believes her death, and by extension the deaths of the other lusii, are not an effect of the Mobius Double Reacharound Virus, but instead are a consequence of playing Sgrub. After she dies, Kanaya saws open the abdomen of her lusus, removing a mysterious sphere called a Matriorb, which can be used to create a new Mother Grub. Doing this is part of Kanaya fulfilling her end of the bargain.

Terezi's lusus is a large, sightless dragon. The species is blind until maturity and must learn to survive without the benefit of sight. Terezi was not directly raised by her lusus, as the hatching of her egg would tip the Doomsday Scale on which it sits, causing the end of the world. However, her Lusus would communicate with her telepathically during her sleep. After the accident in which Terezi lost her sight, it was her lusus that helped teach her the skills to function without vision by smelling and tasting her surroundings. By doing so, Terezi was able to connect with her awakened dream self. Later, the heat of a meteor-sparked forest fire causes the lusus' egg to hatch as Terezi arrives. She dies shortly thereafter, struck by a meteor, presumably due to an inability to see them raining down at the time of her hatching. Her corpse was later picked up and deposited into Terezi's kernelsprite by Gamzee, allowing the two to have audible conversations.

Vriska's lusus resembles a gargantuan spider. One of her fangs is bent downwards, like one of Vriska's horns. Vriska refers to her as Spidermom. Her lusus eats young trolls, and is constantly hungry. Vriska uses her Flarp sessions to procure more food for her lusus. Spidermom dwells in webs woven between the canyons surrounding Vriska's castle-like hive, below her chain-suspended doomsday device. She was killed after the Catenative Doomsday Dice Cascader malfunctioned and exploded, causing the rockface that supported part of Equius' hive to collapse and crush her. Vriska, having arrived shortly beforehand, put her lusus out of her misery by rolling her set of enchanted dice, the Fluorite Octet. It unleashed one of its most powerful attacks, summoning a massive guillotine to behead the Lusus. Presumably, the decapitated part was used to prototype her kernelsprite

Equius' lusus, Aurthour, looks like a centaur, but with an udder and a mustache. In addition to being a guardian, Aurthour is Equius' butler, providing him with his own Lusus Milk. Equius cares for and respects Aurthour and calls him simply the best there is. Aurthour's species is said to be one of the strongest kinds of lusus, which is why he became Equius' custodian, because no other lusus could handle Equius' strength. But, Aurthour bruises incredibly often, even as a result of a grateful pat on the head. His bruising is most likely because Equius is too strong even for monsters. He was killed when the Catenative Doomsday Dice Cascader malfunctioned and blew up part of the rockface that supported a section of Equius' hive. He was in the part of the house that crumbled, and he fell.

Gamzee's lusus is a giant goat-like sea creature. He had apparently often been out to sea instead of caring for Gamzee as a guardian is supposed to. Despite this, Gamzee appears to care enough about him to go keep a look out for him, suggesting that he trusts him. He was speared by what appears to be a harpoon or something similar, possibly even by Eridan, and died while Gamzee comforted him.

Eridan's  lusus appears to be a large flying seahorse. Eridan rides on his lusus' back, as he floats through the air. He is also seen hunting with his Lusus serving as his steed. He is the only troll to accessorize his Lusus, equipping him with a violet saddle and reins. In Eridan's hive, his lusus does not wear riding gear.

Gl'bgolyb is a colossal, squid-like abomination that is the lusus of Feferi. Gl'bgolyb dwarfs all other lusii, as well as most architecture, majorly – Karkat describes her as "AN OUTER GOD THE SIZE OF A CITY". Looking closely, it can be seen that she has two mouths, one on each end of her body.

Gl'bgolyb eventually said the Vast Glub while Karkat was attempting to get Sollux into The Medium, killing him. Doc Scratch stated that the Vast Glub was Gl'bgolyb's swan song" implying that after releasing the Vast Glub it would die, and the implied cause of death was a meteor.

Homestuck Trolls

Trolls are a race of aliens in Homestuck. There are thirty six trolls within this group. From lowest to highest on the Hemospectrum, which is like the caste system, the troll families named are Vantas, Megido, Nitram, Captor, Leijon, Maryam, Pyrope, Serket, Zahhak, Makara, Ampora, and Peixes. There are also two canon fan trolls, Mierfa Durgas and Nektan Whelan, because there was a Kickstarter campaign for the homestuck game Hiveswap, and anyone that donated $10,000, the largest amount you can donate to Kickstarter, could have their fan troll made into a canon character for a page. There was a donation available outside of Kickstarter for $100,000, that guaranteed that your troll would survive more than one page, but no one donated to it, and it was made as a joke. There are also thirteen more confirmed trolls in the Hiveswap game coming out soon. The new trolls with confirmed names are Xefros Tritoh, Dammek, Cridea Jeevik, Fiamet, and Trizza Tethis. The trolls with placeholder names are Troll with ticket-end shaped horns, Burgandy blood with a shovel, Pirate Theif, Rebel Marshall,Gatherer, and Beekeeper. They are also planning on bringing back the two canon fan trolls.

The trolls from the A2 session of the game are Karkat Vantas, Aradia Megido, Tavros Nitram, Sollux Captor, Nepeta Leijon, Kanaya Maryam, Terezi Pyrope, Vriska Serket, Equius Zahhak, Gamzee Makara, Eridan Ampora, and Feferi Peixes.

Karkat has horns that are rounded instead of pointed. He types in grey with all capital letters and perfect syntax, using asterisks for emphasis. The name Karkat possibly comes from Karkata, the Sanskrit astrological equivalent of Cancer.  It may be drawn from Karkinos, a giant crab who fought Hercules, and the origin of the sign Cancer. Vantas is a prostate cancer treatment drug.

Aradia has curved ram's horns. She types in her blood color and doesn't use capitalization or punctuation. Her name comes from Aradia a goddess and witch from Neo-Pagan folklore and Megido, the place where a number of religions believe the final battle will take place, also the name of a known excavation site, referring to her love of archeology. Her surname is also derived from that of a specific kind of goat, referring to her zodiacal symbol, Aries.

Tavros has giant bull horns and has to use a wheelchair because of an accident that occurred while he was playing a game. He types in reverse case, replacing periods with commas. However, he uses an excess of commas, giving the impression of uncertainty or stuttering. Tavros is Greek for bull and is also the Modern Greek pronunciation of the name Taurus. His name resembles that of the Doctor Who villain Davros, the wheelchair-bound creator of the Daleks - this allusion may not be intentional, but it fits with his disability as well as his later acquisition of robotic parts. Nitram is Martin written backwards. There are two possible connections for this. Operation Taurus was the name of a planned prosecution by the Royal Ulster Constabulary against Martin McGuinness, and Mary Martin played Peter Pan in the 1954 musical. Nitram may also be derived from the word nitrates, which, when present at high levels in the water, produce a serious illness in fish called brown blood disease

Sollux has two sets of horns. When typing, he doubles all of his 'i's, as well as replacing 's' with '2' and 'to' and 'too' with 'two'. This is meant to convey that he speaks with a bit of a lisp, possibly a reference to the programming language LISP. This duality theme may also be a reference to Binary code, because of his talent at programming. Sollux divides into sol and lux, the Latin words for sun and light, respectively. In addition, if you switch the S and P in his name it becomes Pollux Castor. Pollux and Castor are the two brightest stars in the constellation of Gemini. It is also worth noting that Pollux is a red giant, while Castor is bluish white, complementing the red/blue duality theme. Castor and Pollux were famous mythological twins, which is where Gemini, Latin for twins, gets its name.

Nepeta has horns shaped like cat ears. Her typing quirk consists of preceding every line with :33 <. :3 is generally used as a cat face. :33 also represents the face of her two-mouthed Lusus. She occasionally changes these to form different facial expressions. She replaces syllables of words with feline-related homophones, such as purrmission, refurring or pawses rather than permission, referring and pauses, respectively. Instances of doubled-e in a word are replaced by doubled-3 but she otherwise does not use letter substitution. She also tends to type in actions between asterisks, though this is a result of her roleplaying. Nepeta is derived from the scientific genus of Catnip, and Leijon is taken from the surname of Anna-Greta Leijon, who was a Swedish Minister of Immigration in 1976 and victim of a kidnapping plot dubbed Operation Leo. The Swedish word lejon means lion. the Finnish word for lion is leijona.

Kanaya's left horn curves into a hook, emulating the tail of her astrological symbol when viewed from the front. She capitalizes the first letter of every word, and writes in jade green. Her name comes from the Sanskrit counterpart of Virgo, which is Kanya, and Maryam is the Arabic name for Mary, as in the Virgin Mary.

Terezi's horns are perfectly conical as opposed to being curved like other trolls. She types in all caps and leetspeak, A, I, and E replaced by 4, 1, and 3, respectively. Terezi is the Albanian word for Libra or Balance, but may also be a reference to Tiresias, a blind prophet from Sophocles' Oedipus, and Homer's Odyssey. It may also be a reference to Denny Teresi, who is blind. Her last name, Pyrope, is a type of red garnet. This is most likely a reference to her red spectacles as well as her burnt red eyes, especially given that Pyrope derives from greek fire and eyes, and Pyrope is the scientific species name of the Fire-eyed Diucon.

Vriska's horns are shaped like a pincer and a stinger. She types in a cerulean blue font and her typing quirks revolve around the number eight in relation to arachnids such as scorpions and spiders. The letter B and sounds like eight are replaced with the number 8 and some characters are repeated in sets of eight, usually vowels or punctuation marks. Vriska is a shortening of "Vrishchika", the Hindi name for Scorpio, or could be related to "Vṛścika" the Sanskrit word for scorpion, but could also refer to Kalpavriksha, a wish-fulfilling tree below the fourth chakra according to Zentra Yoga. Her surname is taken from Serket, the Egyptian goddess of healing stings and bites, and also the personification of the scorpion.

Equius has one broken and one arrow shaped horn. His typing quirk includes adding a bow and arrow (D -->) before speaking, replacing the letter x with %, and replacing loo and ooc with 100 and 001, respectively. The name Equius takes its root from the Latin word Equus, or horse. Equus can also be a variation of calm in Latin, which would be ironic for the fact that Equius has the habit of going on rages. His first name could also come from the constellation Equueleus, which means little horse.

Gamzee's horns resemble that of a goats. He uses purple as a text color, and types with each letter alternating case. Gamze is a Turkish name meaning dimple or coquettish look. Gamzee sounds similar to the word Gämse, which is German for Chamois, a european goat-antelope. Makara is the Sanskrit counterpart to the Capricorn sign, as well as referring to a mythological Hindu creature with the hind legs of an aquatic creature and the forelegs of a terrestrial one. Makara is also the Arabic word for deceit or scheme.

Eridan's horns are wavy. He doubles w and v, excludes g in words ending in ing, uses no punctuation or capitalization, refers to trolls by shortened names (Feferi = fef, Kanaya = kan, Vriska = vvris), and sometimes uses a in place of an or of.
His name is derived from the river Eridanos, which was poured onto the Earth by Aquarius in Greek myth, or possibly from the constellation Eridanus, and the amphora, a type of Greek vessel for carrying liquids which is often seen in depictions of Aquarius.

Feferi's horns are shaped like the top half of her astrological sign. She uses )( instead of h, and puts a hyphen before E. Her first name could come from Metasepia pfefferi, a poisonous species of cuttlefish. Her first name could also come from feri, which is a form of traditional witchcraft. Her last name is the Portuguese name for Pisces, as well as the Portuguese word for fish.

The trolls from the A1 session of the game are Kankri Vantas, Damara Megido, Rufioh Nitram, Mituna Captor, Meulin Leijon, Porrim Maryam, Latula Pyrope, Aranea Serket, Horuss Zahhak, Kurloz Makara, Cronus Ampora, and Meenah Peixes.

The troll Ancestors are The Signless/The Sufferer, The Handmaid, The Summoner, The Psionic/The Helmsman, The Disciple, The Dolorosa, Neophyte Redglare, Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, Executor Darkleer/The Expatriate, The Grand Highblood, Orphaner Dualscar, and Her Imperious Condescension.

Trolls are from the planet Alternia, in another universe from Earth. The troll families shirt signs correspond with the zodiac, Vantas being Cancer, Megido being Aries, Nitram being Taurus, Captor being Gemini, Leijon being Leo, Maryam being Virgo, Pyrope being Libra, Serket being Scorpio, Zahhak being Sagittarius, Makara being Capricorn, Ampora being Aquarius, and Peixes being Pisces. The symbols are not visible on all of the B2 troll's outfits. The colors of the trolls symbols correspond with their blood color. Trolls have grey skin, pointed teeth, yellow nails, black lips, and black hair. They also have horns, which resemble candy corn. Trolls names have six letters,for both first and last names. Relationships amongst trolls are built around hate and pity and are really, really confusing? There are four quadrants of troll romance, matesprit being the closest to human romance, moirail which is like best friends, kismesis being worst enemies, and auspistice which involves three people, essentially, two rivals and their mediator.
